What every employee should know about the labour unions

The rights of employees working in Finland are guaranteed by law and by collective agreements made by the trade unions on behalf of employee groups. These rights are often taken for granted and most people are unaware how they were achieved.

The modern situation is the outcome of decades of hard work by the trade unions and their members. Through long-term solidarity the trade union movement has ensured security and benefits for employees in Finland that are still denied to most of the workers in the world.

The three labour confederations in Finland STTK, FFC and AKAVA have jointly published a brochure: What every employee should know, which contains general information on the Finnish labour union movement and the benefits and rights which the workers have in Finland.
